  1. That recording, and subsequent video is probably the singularly most important piece of music produced in this country since the arrival of The Beatles in the United States in 1964.

    Don’t laugh.

This song (and perhaps “The King of Rock” also by Run-DMC) marked the birth of the “fusion” of rock and rap (or hip hop). Without this song and it’s insane popularity, there would be no Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Living Colour, Lenny Kravitz, Beastie Boys, Eminem, Skindred, Cowboy Troy, Alien Ant Farm, Rage Against The Machine, or even System of A Down. Run-DMC along with Aerosmith were unacknowledged pioneers that I, for one, am glad came along when they did.

How’s that for deep on a friday morning!?

PS: I checked out your MySpace page… how long did it take you to write all that stuff???

  2. Thanks GF, I was pretty sure that this song was important for that reason, but I didn’t know just how important it was.

About the MySpace…hmm, I write a lot so things like that come quickly. Thanks for the visit!
